Each year, the local quilters of Sedona generously share with us their latest quilts to hang from the beautiful, high ceilings in the Sedona Public Library. It’s quite a sight to see. We fill two rooms with quilts hung along the walls and from the rafters and show smaller ones in display cases. We hope that you will stop by and visit the Library as our community pays tribute to this art form called quilting that we all love so much. The quilt show runs from December 29, 2008, through February 12, 2009. The Library, just around the corner from our quilt store, is at 3250 White Bear Road in Sedona.
Holiday Open House 12/6/08 –
It was a festive day of good cheer. Guest designers this year were watercolorist, Catherine Sickafoose, with her lovely giclee prints and cards and Mary Jardine demonstrating landscape collage techniques.

Quilt Sampler Magazine by Better Homes and Gardens
Fall 2008 Issue

We are honored to be a featured shop in the Quilt Sampler magazine, Fall 2008, issue. The magazine is published by Better Homes and Gardens twice a year, and each issue highlights ten shops from around the country and in Canada.
Jill and Patty designed the Desert Sunset quilt shown in the magazine. The design concept was to capture the essence of Sedona through color as a fiery sunset settles over our landscape palette of rusts and greens. The rust border grounds the quilt, and the splash of purple in the inner border adds the finishing touch.

Kits for the quilt top are available for purchase for $88.95 plus shipping. The magazine with the pattern is sold separately for $6.99. A lovely batik backing is also available for $39.95.
To celebrate the event on Saturday, October 4, 2008, we scheduled a full day of activities. The employee fashion show in the morning was a hit, and in the afternoon the Teacher Meet and Greet gave students a chance to preview class projects and meet the teachers. Tammy Kelly, quilt designer and educator from Flagstaff, gave two trunk shows. The Store sold many of its retired quilt samples with 50% of the proceeds going to Camp Soaring Eagle, a nonprofit benefiting severely ill children. All in all, the day was great fun and a huge success.
SPRING FLING OPEN HOUSE
May 3, 2008
Twenty-two quilts hung outdoors and in the Gallery on this lovely spring day for our first Employee Quilt Show. Meanwhile inside the store, Tammy Kelly signed copies of her latest book, Quiltastic Curves, and demonstrated curved piecing techniques.
