Class Descriptions

The latest and greatest basic quilting techniques are packed into this two-session lecture and demonstration class. Everything from fabric selection, rotary cutting, decoding a pattern, quilt basting, machine quilting, binding and more will be covered. Project construction will be done at home based on class instructions. Lots of handouts and two patterns are included.

Cost: $ 40.00
Perfect your curved sewing skills by creating your own Circle Dance quilt. Accurate rotary cutting is made possible using Elisa Wilson's heavy acrylic templates. Created with both 3.5" and 7" templates, Circle Dance is an improvisational interpretation of a Drunkard's Path quilt. The sewing is easy and the variations in construction are endless.

Cost: $ 42.00
Starting with 9" squares of fabrics and using the book "Cultural Fusion Quilts" by Sujata Sha, Ann Magetteri will show you that freehand cuts mean there will be no matching seams, no consistent width of wedges and no even points in the "Crossroads" blocks. As she says, "This is the beauty of the process. Enjoy every wonky line and mismatched point. These enhance the personality of the quilt." Join us for what Sujata Sha calls "the crossroads of being perfect and being free as a quilter."

Cost: $ 28.00
Create a placid summer pond in Hexie style! Using Rebecca Ruth Design's "Dragonfly Pond" Runner & Placemats pattern, students will use a machine paper piecing technique to create a table runner made up of divided hexagon shapes. You can choose a typical blue and green color scheme or give your project a Southwestern flair with purple dragonflies against a beige background.

Cost: $ 28.00
Foundation Paper Piecing will show you how to make intricate, accurate blocks with ease and precision. Anyone can do it! In this class you will make a block which can stand alone, or be combined for a larger beautiful block. You will also learn how to make fast, perfect half square triangles using Triangles on a Roll. Don't miss the chance to learn this useful technique!

Cost: $ 21.00
Spend a day making a flock of improvisational pieced birds. You can put the birds into place mats, small art quilts, or have SO much fun that you end up with a big quilt. It's scrap piecing with a purpose. Bring your Sibley's bird book for even more ideas. The possibilities are endless.

Cost: $ 46.00
Get your groove on during this cool class that will allow any confident beginner to embark on a fun, intermediate design. Jill Boyd, the Quilt Chef, will teach her popular "Groovin" pattern that is fat-quarter friendly. Using two subtly different background fabrics and five fat-quarters, you can make a contemporary baby quilt or wall hanging to add to your home.

Cost: $ 25.00
Learn how a piece of background fabric, a few cuts and some contrasting strips can build a tree. . .and then create a forest of them. "I remember lying on my back looking up through the aspens at Snowbowl," says instructor Ann Magetteri. "I started seeing all kinds of trees in quilts in all types of media. I thought to myself, 'You can do that.' " And, I did...and you can too!

Cost: $ 28.00
